Finally, I've got the Umidigi F1 play, a highly fascinating mobile phone whose price is very competitive and performance satisfies most users.
Umidigi F1 Play is powered by the MediaTek Helio P60 MT6771 SoC, featuring 8 cores and more specifically: 4x 2.00 GHz ARM Cortex A73 + 4x 2.00 GHz ARM Cortex A53.
According to AnTuTu Synthetic Benchmark: 137,861. Since the AnTuTu is Synthetic, it counts CPU, GPU, UX (User Experience) and Memory, the net score of the CPU is 59,914 is not bad. It's nearly impossible to find such a high-performance chipset in a smartphone under $210.
The GPU (graphics card) is the ARM Mali G72 MP3 with 3 cores, at 700MHz. In terms of RAM, it is 6GB, i.e., more than enough for regular use. The LPDDR4X double channel RAM is clocked at 1800 MHz, which is impressive.
LPDDR4X double channel is the most prevalent in mainstream smartphones, and we should give credit to Umidigi, a less well-known brand. As for the storage memory, Umidigi F1 Play comes with 64GB eMMC 5.1.
Androbench tested the internal storage and showed the following speeds: Sequential Read: 296.21 MB/S and Sequential Write: 199.1 MB/S.
The Read Speed is pretty fast, although it's not UFS 2.1. You won't be disappointed.
The screen of F1 Play is a 6.3-inch IPS LCD with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 FHD + and 409 PPI (Pixel Per Inch).
More specifically, the screen covers 83.85% of the front side of F1 Play. It is a curved waterdrop notch display. However, you should note that the screen is multi-touch but only 5 points and not 10 as is customary in most smartphones.
Umidigi advertises that the screen of F1 Play is LTPS (Low-Temperature Polysilicon). But what is it?
LTPS panels are mainly used on mobile smartphones with large screens that have a resolution from 1920 x 1080 or above because they consume little energy but offer high brightness.
As it is known to all, the higher the screen resolution, the more energy will be consumed.
I liked that Umidigi uses such a display which allows the battery to last longer and enable 533.732 cd/m2 high brightness.
At a glance, I find that the screen seems sharp and nice-looking.
The body of F1 Play is made of plastic, the back of it is painted with matte color, so it does not slip from the hand and does not get fingerprint stains. On the back is the fingerprint sensor, which is very fast.
On the right, we can find a classic on/off button and volume rocker. On the left is a SIM tray that can accommodate 2 Nano SIM cards, or 1 Nano SIM and an SD card up to 256 GB to increase our storage space.
At the bottom, there is a USB Type-C 2.0 port, a 3.5 mm Audio jack for the headphones, loudspeaker grilles and a hole for the microphone.
In terms of audio, the F1 Play features a speaker only and lags behind mobile phones with 2 speakers. Its intensity is not the strongest I have heard, normal I would say, and when playing the sound, it seemed like a bit of a pinch of treble.
I'd give it a score of 7.5 to 8 out of 10.
I am impressed by the Wi-Fi speed. It is so fast no matter when I am staying near the router or in other places. It's an upside for F1 Play and for anyone who wants to buy a smartphone with a good antenna, as most of us we browse on the Internet for numerous hours at different places in the house.
The Umidigi F1 Play is equipped with 2 cameras on the back. The primary camera is 48MP, and its sensor is the Samsung S5KGM1. The wide-angle 8MP camera has the Samsung S5K4H7 sensor.
The 48MP primary camera features aperture size ƒ/1.7, ISO: 100-1600 and 0.8 μm pixel size for more details in a photo.
The 48 MP mode achieves binning 4 photos by comparing them and picking the cleanest pieces of each picture, giving a fantastic result.
The performance is less satisfying in low light situations. However, after being updated, F1 Play has witnessed a significant uplift in photo quality, in comparison with the previous Umidigi devices.
As for the video, Umidigi corrected autofocus with outstanding results. It is capable of recording video up to 1920 x 1080 resolution at 30fps.
What's more, the close-ups are doing very well.
On the other hand, when taking a photo of the pine tree at a distance, we can find that the pine needles look a little blurry.
Its primary camera is satisfying, and I would rate it 8 out of 10.
The Selfie Camera has a resolution of 16 Mp with the Samsung S5K3P3 sensor, ƒ/2.0, 1.015 μm.
I find that it performs well, though a bit less satisfying in low light. However, it is OK since we are talking about a budget phone.
Umidigi F1 Play runs Android 9.0, and an update has already come out for bugs related to the software.
This update corrects the autofocus in the video, adds the night mode to the camera functionality, adds AI object recognition, and finally fixes little bugs, optimizing the system.
I hope that there will be an improvement of the bokeh effect for better camera performance.
I appreciate that the company supports their phones and fixes bugs via updates.

For tracking/positioning F1 Play uses: GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou.
It supports bands worldwide, which is good for traveling all over the world and not having problems with weak signals.
Additionally, the positioning is very good with an accuracy of 2 - 4 meters.
F1 Play has a Li-Po 5150mAh battery. By using PCMark and keeping screen brightness at 200 cd/m2, SOT (Scree-On Time) lasts up to 13 hours and 25 minutes. No user will play with his/her phone for so many hours in a row even though it is safe. Theoretically, the smartphone can support 1.5 days of moderate use.
Umidigi F1 Play signifies excellent improvements in the camera. In combination with the big battery and its fast processor, also with a low price, I would say that it is a mobile phone worth every penny.
The 6GB RAM allows you to run a lot of apps simultaneously without worrying.
If someone is looking for a good camera, the F1 Play will not disappoint him.
Umidigi F1 Play is an excellent smartphone, and I highly recommend it. Yes, it means the best Value for Money.
If you find it still available on Gearbest, don't miss the fantastic smartphone!
